A representative from the Gaelbhratach scheme visited Scoil Aireagail this week to present the school with their flag.
The Gaelbhratach is an Irish-language flag awarded to schools in Ireland that actively promote the use of the Irish language (Gaeilge) as a living language in daily school life. It is part of a national initiative aimed at encouraging students and staff to use Irish more frequently, both inside and outside the classroom.
Schools earn the flag by completing specific language-based projects and activities over the course of the school year, fostering a positive attitude toward the language and helping to preserve Ireland’s linguistic heritage.
This would normally happen at their awards ceremony in Limerick which takes place on Tuesday, however, Scoil Aireagail has its own awards taking place on that day, so they kindly offered to visit Scoil Aireagail instead. Photographer Harry Reid was on hand to get some great pictures!
