Job Description

Stephen Carr Architects is a long-established architectural practice based in Wexford with many projects in the wider South East area.  

Our work consists of a wide range in the private and public sector, including commercial, hospitality, residential schemes and private house designs.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Architectural Technologist with technical job management and detailing skills to join our team.

You will be working on various projects from industrial to high-end housing with new and repeat clients.

Job Responsibilities:

Successful candidate will be involved in all stages of projects and will be responsible for delivering detailed technical design, ensuring that they are in compliance with the relevant statutory and building regulations using their technical and building construction expertise.

They will assume responsibility for day-to-day management of the projects assigned to them and report directly to the Project Architect.

Their responsibilities will also include:

  • Tender packages including drawings, schedules, specifications and construction documentation.
  • Attending meetings with clients, design teams, contractors and other specialists
  • Assisting with ensuring compliance with Clients’ brief, current Irish Planning, Building and Health & Safety Regulations as well as other relevant legislation.
  • Visiting site and carrying out site inspections      
  • From time to time assist the Project Architect in preparing sketch design/ planning and presentation drawings.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Architectural Technologist
  • +6 years post graduate experience (Junior Architectural Technologists with +3 years P.G. experience may apply for a separate position also, please stating this in your email.)
  • Good detailing and construction knowledge
  • Good understanding of Irish Building Regulations
  • Strong working knowledge of the Statutory Consent processes (Planning, FSC, DAC), current Building Regulations, and the BC(A)R process. Note, FSC & DAC applications are outsourced but the review of drafts and coordination of final certificates within the project will perform part of the position.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Working experience with Revit an advantage
  • Basic Photoshop skills a bonus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel
  • A high degree of self-motivation with an ability to work unsupervised but co-operatively and flexibly with directors, the team and most importantly our clients
  • A proven track record of working within a busy practice, and driving projects from inception to completion.
  • A strong knowledge of construction detailing, excellent communication, and presentation skills are also required
