It was a dramatic weekend of action in Kilkenny as Bennettsbridge, Shamrocks, O'Loughlin Gaels and James Stephens all sealed their place in the semi-finals of the St Canices Credit Union Senior Hurling Championship.

Despite losing Paddy Mullen to a second half red card, Shamrocks claimed one of their great victories as Adrian Mullen and TJ Reid inspired the five in a row championship winners  to a 1-20 to 0-21 success over Dicksboro.

The Ballyhale side will now meet the Brian Cody managed James Stephens in the last four after the Village put in a big second half display to overcome Graigue-Ballycallan in the first of the two match programme in UPMC Nowlan Park.

Saturday's two quarter-finals saw Bennettsbridge and O'Loughlin Gaels get over Glenmore and Mullinavat respectively and they will do battle for a place in the decider in a fortnight's time.

Elsewhere Carrickshock maintained their intermediate status with victory over O'Loughlin Gaels and in the junior grade there were victories for Piltown, Emeralds, Tullogher Rosbercon and St Patricks with the quarter-finals set to take place alongside the intermediate semi-finals involving Thomastown v Dunnamaggin and Mooncoin v Lisdowney next weekend.
