O'Loughlin Gaels and Thomastown to meet in novel Kilkenny SHC Final

O'Loughlin Gaels and Thomastown will meet in a new look St Canices Credit Union SHC Final in two weeks time after the two clubs claimed big wins earlier this afternoon.

O'Loughlins were very comfortable in their 2-17 to 1-14 win over Bennettsbridge as they coped admirably without the suspended Mark Bergin and Mikey Butler.

The county champions had goals in each half from Fionan Mackessy and Sammy Johnston and while David Blanchfield netted late on, it was too late to make a difference as the city side rather easily saw the game home.

The second semi-final which provided a huge opportunity to Thomastown and Mullinavat never even threatened to be a contest with Thomastown dominating from start to finish.

With Robbie Donnelly top-scoring and John Donnelly, Zach Bay Hammond and Stephen Donnelly all chipping in with big displays, the 2023 Intermediate winners were much too classy for their opponents as they ran out 1-27 to 0-13 winners.

The Thomastown pace and power ensured Mulinavat's championship journey came to an end at the last four stage with Thomas O'Hanahan putting the icing in the cake for the 'Town with a second half goal.
