Main Man
Niall Brennan (Lisdowney)
The former Kilkenny player has transformed from a midfield or forward role into a playmaker from defence and while his impact hasn’t been as noticeable, it’s arguably been even more important. Locking down a mean backline was crucial in getting Lisdowney over the line and Brennan was critical to that as well as setting up Cathal Jordan’s second half goal.

Talking Point
The game took place in very windy conditions but thankfully it didn’t effect the quality of the contest with both teams leaving it all on the line over the course of the 60 plus minutes of action. While score-getting was certainly more difficult, there was added physicality with plenty of confrontation across the field with each point hard earned.

Turning Point
Apart from being level once in the first few minutes, it was a final that Lisdowney led from the outset but Young Irelands were always in the game and it was the goals that really set the winners apart on the scoreboard.

Top Score
The two Lisdowney goals were both well created and executed but it was the point taking that was causing the players most difficulty so the way Dylan Jordan got forward to score two long distance points from play was most impressive.

Highlight
Lisdowney’s only other Intermediate success at this grade arrived during the Covid season of 2020, so the club will at least get to partake in a Leinster campaign this time around after losing out four years ago.

What’s Next
Lisdowney will now play Clodiagh Gaels of Offaly in the Leinster quarter-final on Saturday, November 9 while the season is at an end for Young Irelands.
