John Donnelly
Thomastown’s John Donnelly will captain the Kilkenny senior hurlers for the upcoming intercounty season.
As a result of Thomastown winning their first Kilkenny SHC title in 78 years last October when defeating O’Loughlin Gaels at UPMC Nowlan Park, All-Star nominee Donnelly has been honoured with leading the team for the year with fellow panelist and clubmate Peter McDonald also confirmed as the vice-captain with the duo taking over from Paddy Deegan and Huw Lawlor.
Kilkenny kick off their Division 1A campaign away to defending league and All-Ireland champions Clare in Cusack Park, Ennis on Sunday at 2pm (live on TG4 Player).
