Kilkenny hurling legend ready to reveal the secrets of sporting arena

Walter Walsh signed up for Legends Tour programme as part of GAA sporting calendar

Walter Walsh claimed three All-Ireland hurling medals, five National Hurling League titles and seven Leinster championships with the Cats

Hurling fans will have the chance to learn about the game's greatest arena by going on a tour with a Kilkenny great.

Walter Walsh, a three-time All-Ireland winner with the Cats, has been lined up as a host in this year's series of Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tours. The tours, which connect fans with Gaelic Games greats, offer the perfect day out for family and friends and a rare opportunity to experience Croke Park through the eyes of those who created history within its walls. Attendees will hear first-hand accounts of iconic championship moments, gain insights into pre-match nerves and celebrations, and discover the personal stories behind some of Ireland's most memorable sporting achievements.

Walter Walsh played during the Kilkenny golden age under Brian Cody, claiming three All-Ireland senior hurling medals, five National Hurling League titles and seven Leinster championships, as well as an All-Ireland junior club hurling title with Tullogher-Rosbercon in 2024.

The acclaimed tour series, a cornerstone partnership between Bord Gáis Energy and the GAA for more than a decade, allows visitors to ask questions directly to their sporting heroes and learn what it truly felt like during those career-defining moments. From the pressure of taking crucial frees to the camaraderie in the dressing room, legends share intimate details that bring famous matches to life.

Every Legends Tour includes comprehensive access to the GAA Museum's celebrated collections, showcasing the evolution of Gaelic games throughout Irish history. Visitors can marvel at the original Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy Cups, explore the prestigious GAA Hall of Fame, and challenge themselves in the Interactive Games Zone's skills tests.

The 2025 series kicks off on May 10 and includes Brian Fenton (Dublin), Diarmaid Marsden (Armagh), Lyndsey Davey (Dublin) and Pat McEnaney (Monaghan). Walsh will lead the Croker tour on June 7.
