The Main Talking Points as Kilkenny defeat Galway in Leinster SHC

Jordan Molloy put in an excellent midfield display.

Main Man- Jordan Molloy (Kilkenny)

The platform for Kilkenny’s success was very much built in midfield as Jordan Molloy and Cian Kenny shared five points from play as they dominated their Galway counterparts. Molloy in particular was brilliant as he linked the defence and attack and the Cats can now claim to having one of the best centre pairings in the country.

Talking Point
When news filtered through late last week that TJ Reid was ruled out through injury, it may have offered up a few question marks about the Kilkenny attack but they weren’t found wanting in that regard with Eoin Cody, Mossy Keoghan, Billy Ryan and John and Stephen Donnelly all adding valuable contributions.

Turning Point
Galway actually started the game quite well but once Kilkenny got into their groove, there was no stopping them, although the feeble Galway resistance was rather surprising.

Highlight
It may just be a quirk of the system but the win on Saturday was Kilkenny’s first over Galway in the Leinster round robin and it now sets them up perfectly for the rest of the campaign with two home games against Offaly and Dublin to come in the coming weeks.

What’s Next
Kilkenny travel to Belfast as they face Antrim while the night before Galway face into a possible season defining meeting with Offaly in Tullamore.

Attendance
8,243
