It was a night of celebration for Evergreen after they won the Junior St Canice's Premier Division title for an eight successive time on Wednesday.
The Kilkenny city side claimed a 4-0 victory at home to Callan United with a brace from Andy Grincell and an individual effort apiece by Sam Hickey and Andrew Wall gifting Evergreen an unassailable lead at the top of the table.
Evergreen's title celebration was accelerated by the fact that Freebooters were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Bridge United and with five points now seperating the near neighbours, the final day clash between the two which was scheduled for Saturday night will now be a dead rubber.
Evergreen will be hoping that this is only part of the silverware for the season with Gary Maher's side also in the Leinster Junior Cup Final against New Oak of Carlow in Bunclody on Sunday week.
For now though, the Evergreen contingent can be content with a 13th domestic title in the last 14 seasons with just Freebooters (2009) and Thomastown United (2015) interrupting over a decade and a half of success for the league champions.
