Kilkenny Camogie have driven into action with the launch of the Mary Fennelly Memorial Golf Classic.
The classic, which will be held in Castlecomer on Friday, June 27, remembers camogie stalwart Mary Fennelly, who captained the Cats to All-Ireland glory in 1976.
She also won many other honours in the game, including All-Ireland titles with her club, St Paul’s and titles with Dublin.
Fennelly also served on the Kilkenny Camogie Board and was President of the Camogie Association from 1982 to 1985.
Committed to enhancing the image of camogie, Fennelly was a passionate advocate for women’s sport.
The golf classic will generate funds to provide the essential supports needed for the development of all county teams, keeping with her drive and passion for camogie and to help empower Kilkenny players to reach their full potential while investing in their future success.
The day provides an opportunity to golf enthusiasts, businesses and camogie supporters to come together for a day of fun and friendly competition while serving as a vital fundraiser for Kilkenny’s intercounty camogie players.
The Golf Classic will take place at Castlecomer Golf Club on Friday, June 27.
