It’s been a difficult few weeks for Adrian Mullen. Having sat out a big part of the club season with injury, he suffered a broken thumb in the win over Kilcormac and could be hit with a proposed ban
The aftermath of the incident involving Adrian Mullen at the end of Shamrocks Ballyhale’s victory over Kilcormac Killoughey in the Leinster senior club championship continues to roll on with the Kilkenny star set to receive a one match ban for his role in the melee.
The suspension, if held up, would rule the 26-year-old out of this weekend’s last four clash with Clough-Ballacolla of Laois, but Mullen was already set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a broken thumb injury in the win over the Offaly champions.
It has also been reported that the Kilcormac pair of Charlie Mitchell and Cillian Kiely are also facing bans for their involvement in the incident after the game.
The news came on the back of an investigation from Leinster GAA and it remains to be seen if the players will accept their fate or seek out an appeal.
In other Leinster related news, the senior club football and senior club hurling deciders will be played as a double-header in Croke Park once again with the finals fixed for Saturday, December 6.
As has become customary in recent seasons, the football final will open up proceedings at 4.30pm with the hurling involving this Sunday’s winning semi-finalists of St Martin’s v Naas and Shamrocks Ballyhale v Clough-Ballacolla taking place at 6.30pm.
GAA HQ has become something of a second home for the Shamrocks over the last decade or so and a win on Sunday will see them advance to the senior provincial decider for the 15th time. Even though they are likely to be without Adrian Mullen, it’s hard to look beyond Henry Shefflin’s team.
The Ballyhale club are one of three sides from the county that enjoy home advantage in Leinster Championship clashes at the weekend with Danesfort and Barrow Rangers also in action.
After an impressive outing against St Mogue’s of Fethard the last day out, the ’Fort will be in UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday when they face Commercials of Dublin in the Leinster intermediate championship semi-final at 1.30pm.
At the same time in Castlecomer, it’s a short trip for Barrow Rangers as they take on Wexford’s Davidstown Courtnacuddy in the Leinster junior semi-final as the Paulstown-Goresbridge outfit look to go another step forward.
Away from the hurling side of things, Muckalee will look to continue their fairytale run when they meet St Kiernan’s on Saturday (12 noon) in the All-Ireland junior championship quarter-final in Abbotstown.
The Kilkenny senior champions beat St Colmcille’s of Meath in the Leinster Final in Kinnegad on Saturday week last. Their oppositions this weekend will be very much an unknown quantity, coming from London on the back of winning the All-British title.
