Rovers return with Ellen Molloy set for early Wexford reunion

Just weeks after departing for Tallaght and a move to Shamrock Rovers, Kilkenny football star Ellen Molloy will face her former club Wexford after the two sides were drawn in the same group in the Women’s All-Island Cup.

Twelve teams from the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division and four teams from the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership will compete for the chance to lift the All-Island trophy in July.

Split into four groups, the 16 teams will get the action underway from Saturday, April 4th with the Group games set to be played over three rounds, leading into the Quarter-Finals on the week ending June 13th and then onto the Semi-Finals on the week ending June 28th.

The Final will once again be broadcast live on TG4 with Saturday, July 18th pencilled in for the showpiece event in what is the fourth year of the competition.

Fixtures will be confirmed in due course, but the draw did reveal the make-up of each Group with last year’s winners Wexford in Group 1 alongside Linfield Women, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers.

Two-time winners Galway United are in Group 2 where they will come up against DLR Waves, Lisburn Rangers and Peamount United. In Group 3, Athlone Town, Cliftonville Ladies, Cork City and Treaty United will go head to head, while Group 4 consists of Bohemians, Glentoran Women, Shelbourne and Waterford.
