What we learned as Kilkenny lost out to Limerick in Hurling League

Kilkenny’s Cian Kenny is swampd by the Limerick pair of Aidan O’Connor and Adam English.

Main Man- Eoin Cody (Kilkenny)

There were big Limerick displays from the likes of Aidan O’Connor, Peter Casey and Aaron Gillane but even in defeat Eoin Cody still stood out from a Kilkenny point of view. The Shamrocks Ballyhale man was again selected at centre-forward and with 1-5 from play out of an overall 1-6 tally, it was another good afternoon at the office for the 25-year-old.

Talking Point

The black card in the dying stages of the second half to Mikey Carey was just one of a number of similar discretions over the course of the first two weekend’s of league action. The full-back brought down Limerick’s Diarmaid Byrnes and although there was a number of defenders present, the black card penalty was awarded which Aidan Tallis saved from the aforementioned Byrnes.

Turning Point

A 1-3 tally without reply for Limerick between the 57th and 65th minutes helped the hosts put the game to bed after Kilkenny briefly got within two points and it looked all to play for.
