Stephen Barron turned out to be the super sub for Ballyhale Shamrocks when they scored a sensational win in the Kilkenny Roinn A minor hurling final.
Barron booted a 62nd minute goal that beat James Stephens by 3-15 to 4-9 as Ballyhale Shamrocks took their third title at Nowlan Park this afternoon.
Barron's goal was the last score. 'Stephens mounted a ferocious bid to save the match during the two minutes more that were played, but they just couldn't.
The Village led at half-time by 2-5 to 0-9 after a scoring blast between the 20th and 24th minute earned them 2-2 to turn the match on its head.
The scores were level twice during the second half at 1-12 to 2-9 and then 4-9 to 2-15 before the man with No. 22 on his back decided it all.
