COURSE NEWS: Updates on course opening times on mornings of  frost available from  056 776500.

All play on mid-week days up to 9am should commence from the 1st tee. This is to give course staff an opportunity to get their work done on the first few holes.

All golf prior to 9am commences from the first tee.

It should be  noted the competition slots on Saturday mornings are available for men's and ladies competitions. All  may book any of the lines.

The course Watering System is being overhauled with new piping being laid over the next four weeks approximately.  It is hoped there will be the minimum of disruption.

New Ross

It was out in the foggy dew  for the 14 senior teams taking part in the  weekly outing.

With the dew lying heavy on the fairways and greens good scoring was  difficult again in the forenoon.

However, as the day brightened up conditions improved but nevertheless the 90 point target barrier was not broken.

In the end it was a blanket finish with only a single point between the top  three teams. One team made a valiant effort coming up only one point short.

Scoring 89 points and finishing in first place were John Murphy, (17), Jim 'Ross' Ryan (18), John Fitzpatrick (19) and Tom Kent (26).

A point behind (88) came Peter Goggin (16), John F. Roche (16), Colin Casey (22) and Brian Dolan (22) who finished as runners-up.

The third spot went to John Kennedy (16), Dan Quigley (20), Dick Cahill (20) and Larry Shannon (20) with 87 points.

Since the introduction of the pole measures in place of tapes on holes 9 and 11 there has been a noticeable absence in nearest the pin winners. Now the cry is bring back the tapes and give the players a better chance of winning.

The  AGM will be on Thursday, December  1 and the Christmas outing and inner is on the following Thursday, December 8.

All-in cost of that is €20 per head and with extra prizes on offer the deal offers excellent value.

Once again players are reminded to be in good time for the team draw each week at 10.40am especially now with the dark evenings setting in.

LADIES: Results Wednesday, November 2, 14 hole Stableford, 1 Denise Bolger (16) 31pts; 2 Kay Kelleher (25) 27pts (l3); 3 Anna Murphy (25) 27pts (l6); Senior Anne Fenlon (24) 26pts.

Upcoming competitions - Wednesday 9, 16 and 23, 14 hole Stableford, club; ladies' AGM is on Thursday (8pm).
