SOUND MAN MICHAEL - Michael Cantwell (centre) from Newpark is pictured with Kilkenny golf club men's Captain Frank Dalton and Lady Captain Barbara Teehan when he was made an honorary member

Frank Dalton and Barbara Teehan hosted an extremely enjoyable joint Captains' dinner on Saturday in Kilkenny golf club.

Approximately 120 members enjoyed an excellent meal catered for by Barry Joyce and his team, with Liam Barry and his crew ensuring guest thirsts were quenched at all times.

Both Captains we're delighted with the help and support they received during their year in office, and thanked members for their help and encouragement.

The formalities were concluded with the bestowing of Honorary Life Membership on Mick Cantwell, an honour richly deserved.

INFORMATION: A general information evening will be held this Thursday 7.30pm in the clubhouse.

Members will be updated on the various works undertaken  during the year. Reports will also be given by Ollie Cullen on the improvement to the house.

Tom Sloyan will discuss handicaps. Dermot Doyle will update members on the 'Ready to Golf' initiative.

COURSE NEWS: Members are reminded of their responsibilities when entering the course to commence their round, particularly when play starts from the 3rd and 5th holes.

The trees and spinney on the right of the 18th hole creates a ' blind spot'. All should be extra vigilant at this point.

Members are requested to take extra care while the new pipe laying is in progress. There are some holes left open while fittings are being replaced.

The course toilet is out of commission at the moment. It will be up and running as soon as the pipework is completed.

MID-WEEK GOLF: Members playing in mid-week prior to 9am should commence from the 1st tee. This is to give the course staff an opportunity to get their work done on the opening  few holes.

If members commence from the 3rd or 5th tees it is very difficult for the course staff to get their work done.
