Mark Power scored a superb win on Wednesday of last week in the Open singles at Kilkenny golf club.
After carding a bogey on the opening hole, Mark proceeded to demolish the course. He scored an amazing eight birdies and added an eagle for good measure at the fifth.
His playing partners, Eddie (his dad) and Tom Hickey could only watch and admire.
Is this a new course record? Due to the fact there was placing on the fairways, it cannot be counted.
On checking the record cards in the Clubhouse, Gerry Stewart (7) is recorded as having scored 64 gross (out 33, in 31) on July 13, 1996 and that stood until 2001.
Craig Martin (1) is credited with setting a new course record, 65 gross (out 32, in 33) on July 20, 2008.
