The golf membership series at the Gowran Park club swings into action this week.
Every week through October and November, the club will hold an open singles competition. The top three weekly qualifiers will go forward to the final on Friday, November 30.
First prize will be a free golf membership for 2019 or 43” LED TV. Second prize is a 32” Smart TV with a Samsung tablet for third place.
Entry fee is €20 for visitors and €7 for members. Booking online or 056-7726699 for timesheet details.
MEMBERSHIP: The club has a number of membership offers for 2019. Full membership is €600, with €435 for under 30s and €510 for seniors. The offer closes on October 31.

SINGLES: The final of the club singles competition provided great entertainment. In Category One Ger Hickey (19) and Eileen Tobin played a nail-biting decider. After a tense match Ger emerged the winner on the 20th hole.
Charlotte Boote (29) was the Category Two winner over Mary McEvoy (27). The win sees Charlotte continue a wonderful season - she is also in the lead for Golfer of the Year with one week remaining.

Lady Vice Captain at Castlecomer GC Jo Costigan hosted a successful outing at Kilkea Castle at the weekend.
The event was a big hit with golfers, with most pleasant sunny conditions all the way.
The course was in excellent condition with the water often proving tricky. Loretta Mansfield was the worthy winner with a fabulous 36 points. She also won the longest drive.
The Get into Golf ladies had a nine-hole scramble with Siobhan McEvoy, Mary Boran and Eileen Gunner the eventual winners.
TROPHY: Marjie Gannon, Bessie Brophy, Nuala Mahon and Patricia Brennan will represent the club today (Wednesday) in the Glenns Trophy at Birr GC. The competition is an 18-hole stableford scotch foursomes.
SENIORS: The seniors travelled to Athy and played a team classic in glorious Autumn sunshine and calm conditions. A total of 34 golfers attended and a most enjoyable day was had by all.
SCRAMBLE: The Tuesday nine-hole scramble has drawn to a close for the year.
LOTTO: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot. Numbers drawn were 6, 18, 19 and 27. The jackpot is now €6,000.

Forty members played in the club Tankard competition at the weekend.
Ger Ruth won it with a great score of 40 points. He beat stiff competition from Simon Williams (13) 39 points and Alan Cuffe (16) 38 points.
Next weekend’s competition is the final medal event of the year.
MATCHPLAY: The singles and doubles club matchplay competitions are at the semi-final stages.
Both need to be completed before Sunday, October 14. The winners of the events are eligible to play in the Champions Cup which is scheduled for October 14.
CHARITY: The Ladies Club are hosting an Open charity event in memory of the late Ann Murphy. It will be played on Sunday, October 21.
There will be a shotgun start at 11am. The competition format will be a three person Scramble (at least one lady per team). Entry fee is €30 per team.
