A new walking programme will start at Kilkenny parkrun this month. The programme is designed to bring awareness that walking is welcome at parkrun
Kilkenny parkrun will be hosting a six-week walking programme to bring awareness that walking is welcomed at parkrun!
Held in the Castle Park every Saturday at 9.30am, parkrun features a Tail Walker so nobody is left behind. For the six-week programme it is hoped to have two Tail Walkers to cater for any possible increased attendance. Newcomers are welcome to sign up for the role, which is a great way to get started.
The walking programme starts on Saturday, November 17. Participants can meet inside Switzer's Gate at Kilkenny Castle at 9.15am for a 9.30am start. The parkrun, which recently celebrated its fourth birthday in Kilkenny, is a free timed 5km event.
Participants don’t have to run - walkers are welcome at parkrun. Walk leaders will be there weekly to meet and greet people, who can walk or jog, push a buggy or walk the dog!
Walk leaders will accompany participants while they walk. All are welcome to end their walk by joining the parkrun team for a coffee in the Kilkenny Castle Kitchen.
To join up all you have to do is register at www.parkrun.ie - choose Kilkenny parkrun as your event and #parkwalkIRE as your club. Print your Barcode ID and bring it with you every week.
