Hughes Cup returns with quality field at Sevenhouses

THE Sevenhouses coursing club have assembled a top class field for their 91st annual meeting which will be held in Sevenhouses on Saturday and Sunday.

THE Sevenhouses coursing club have assembled a top class field for their 91st annual meeting which will be held in Sevenhouses on Saturday and Sunday.

This year’s renewal of the popular Seamus Hughes memorial cup features an incredibly strong field with the defending champion, Lawlee being taken on by seven cup winners from earlier this season, along with three beaten finalists.

This year there are two full trial stakes and between the Derby and Oaks there are 18 beaten finalists who will have their last oppurtunity to claim a place at the national meeting in Febuary.

This time there is a new event on the card. It is called the Sevenhouses Invitational Champion Working Members Cup. This involves 16 dogs who have won Working Members duffer stake and they will compete for a prize of €2,000.

Second day: start with Champion Working Member Duffer Stake, Anglo-Irish Why You Monty Cup, Garnaman Stake and complete card.
