KILKENNY swimmer Shani Stallard preformed brilliantly at the Spanish Open in Madrid recently.
The 17-year-old had a great weekend of swimming, making finals in a number of events, and winning a bronze medal in the 200 meters breaststroke in a time of 2.31.30 to break the Irish junior record.
The time qualifies her for the World Junior Championships which will be held in Lima, Peru in August and also the European senior short course championships in Szcecin, Poland in December.
Shani is a member of the Irish High Preformance Squad. She is now ranked 16th in the European open rankings in the 200m breastroke.
She is attending secondary school in Limerick and training full time in University Limerick with the national coach.
