Handball- Minogue is king of Kilkenny handball scene

BRIAN Minogue, Kells won the senior singles county handball title when beating Clogh's William Love in three games in O'Loughlin's on Sunday.

BRIAN Minogue, Kells won the senior singles county handball title when beating Clogh's William Love in three games in O'Loughlin's on Sunday.

This was a good display from Love again an opponent who reached the All-Ireland intermediate singles final last year in which he lost out to Limerick's Seamus O'Carroll.

Minogue is an accomplished performer. Love, too, looks to be going in the right way about trying to go one step further this year and a tough game like the final should stand to him in the coming Leinster championship.

Brian Minogue had lost the Division I final before Christmas to fellow clubman, Patrick Funchion, but he made up for the loss with this victory.

It was a busy weekend for the Kells man who was also in action in Kingscourt on Saturday, playing in the senior Team of Four club championship along with Patrick and Peter Funchion and Ger McGrath. The Kells men found Ballaghaderreen too hot to handle, but they gave a good account of themselves before losing 98-61.

The County Board will hold a fullmeetingon Tuesday. Delegates will elect a new vice-chairman and look at the Juvenile Officer's position for the future as EddieEnglishhas offered to look after the 40x20 season. However, he has said he cannot look after the 60x30 scene.

Delegates will have to appoint someone to fill the Juvenile Officer's position.
