FIVE Kilkenny players can now look forward to appearing in All-Ireland handball finals after last weekend’s action. Nicholas Anthony and Brian Minogue beat the 2010 junior champions James Brady and Patrick Clerkin, Cavan in two straight games 21-9, 21-13.
There was no joy for Joe Anthony. He lost out to Robbie McMahon, Antrim while Ciara Mahon never got going against Fionnuala McKenna in the ladies minor singles semi-final.
Patrick and Peter Funchion continued their fine form, beating Antrim opponents 21-3, 21-3 to progress to the under 21 All-Ireland final in which they face Tipperary.
Michael ‘Ducksie’ Walsh received a walk-over from the injured Paddy Crothers. Joe Walsh will play Sean McNally on Saturday after the game was refixed due to an injury picked up by the Down man.
This week features a busy schedule on the local front with many finals down for decision. Each final looks set to be a cracker. If anyone has a bit of free time they could do worse than head to their local court to take in the action.
