Dicksboro completed a clean sweep of underage titles for the 2021 season in Kilkenny after they ran out nine point winners over Shamrocks of Ballyhale in the Under 21 final at John Locke Park this afternoon.
Played in front of a big crowd, Dicksboro made all the early running and with a strong wind at their back they eased ahead on the scoreboard.
Harry Shine, Cillian Hackett and Aran Murphy all knocked over opening quarter points for the city side as they opened up an 0-8 to 0-3 lead.
An opportunistic Eoin Cody goal in the 18th minute kept Shamrocks in the hunt but Boro finished the half in style as they scored six of the last seven points.
Michael Walsh's team were ahead by seven at the break and Dean Mason also made a couple of big saves for the Ballyhale side.
Shamrocks relied too much on Eoin Cody though and although he was on fine form throughout the 60 minutes, Dicksboro were a more balanced outfit.
A Niall Shorthall goal ten minutes into the second period appeared to give Shamrocks a way back into the game but that only served to inspire Dicksboro even more and once Harry Shine found the net in the 46th minute, the game was all but over as a contest.
Shine, Aran Murphy and Liam Moore all added on late points for the winners as they eventually came through on a 1-24 to 2-12 scoreline.
