Progress is steady on the new library in Thomastown, County Kilkenny
Work is progressing steadily on the much-anticipated new library building in Thomastown in County Kilkenny, with several key structural milestones recently completed.
According to the latest site update, the superstructure blockwork to the front entrance has now been completed, giving a clearer picture of the library’s future layout.
The lift shaft blockwork has reached roof level, and preparations are underway for the installation of Kingspan flashings, with roof penetrations currently being marked out.

Wall cladding cleats and rails are being installed, while revised steel over the windows has been completed, bar one outstanding section. The installation of the external wall cladding has also commenced.
On the ground floor, doors and windows have now been fitted, and the remaining windows for the first floor are already on site, awaiting installation.
The new library is part of a wider regeneration plan for Thomastown and is expected to serve as a modern, accessible hub for learning, culture, and community activity.
