HIGHLIGHT: Emotional scenes as Kilkenny says farewell to much-loved priest

Galmoy native Fr Dan Cavanagh has devoted more than five decades serving communities as a priest, including more than 20 years in his present parish of Rosbercon

After more than 50 years in the priesthood, including over two decades serving the Rosbercon Parish community, Kilkenny priest Fr Dan Cavanagh has retired from active ministry.

Originally from Galmoy, Fr Dan has been a familiar and much-loved figure in parish life.

His contribution was recognised recently at Listerlin National School, where staff and pupils marked his retirement with a special farewell (see all pictures below).
