Met Eireann forecasts rough weather for Ireland with a number of weather warnings issued

Met Eireann is forecasting a rough spell of weather for Kilkenny.

A Status Yellow Wind Warning for much of the country including Kilkenny comes into effect this afternoon.

It warns that the weather will become very windy or squally for a time today with isolated thunderstorms possible.

That warning for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Tipperary and Waterford comes into effect at 2pm and remains in place until 7pm on Tuesday.

The Met Eireann weather forecast for today is for the weather to be wet and windy with outbreaks of rain, heavy in places with potential for spot flooding and isolated thunderstorms.

The rain will clear into the Irish Sea by evening, with clear spells and showers following. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees. Strong and gusty southerly winds will veer westerly later in the clearance.

Cold and blustery tonight with clear spells and scattered showers, most frequent over the western half of the country with the chance of isolated thunderstorms and hail. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees in fresh to strong west to southwest winds.

According to Met Eireann, it will be windy and showery on Wednesday with showers merging into some longer spells of rain. Isolated thunderstorms and hail are possible too.

Drying up for a time later in the afternoon away from Ulster, before outbreaks of rain feed up from the southwest during the evening. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, in mostly strong and gusty westerly wind.

According to Met Eireann, the weather will remain unsettled for the rest of the week before turning colder this weekend.
