Hazardous conditions and possible black ice expected today in Kilkenny

CARLOW WEATHER: Hazardous conditions and possible black ice expected today (Jan 19)

Frost, ice and possible black ice is expected in parts today in Kilkenny (January 19) with hazardous conditions.

That's according to Met Éireann, which also forecasts scattered showers of rain and sleet which will clear through the morning.

Mostly dry weather will follow for the rest of the day with good sunny spells, although some mist and fog may set in across the southwest later.

Highest temperatures will be between just 1 to 5 degrees in mostly near calm conditions, fresher in the north and northwest.

Tonight will be very cold again with frost and icy stretches, and mist thickening into dense freezing fog in parts with impaired visibility.

Later in the night, some drizzle will move into west and southwest counties with lowest temperatures of -4 to -2 degrees.
