A status yellow wind warning for Kilkenny has been issued by Met Eireann and will remain in force until 8pm today.
The alert also applies to Munster, Connacht, Donegal, Offaly, Laois, Kildare, Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow and Dublin.
Met Eireann said: "Very strong west to northwest winds developing.
"Gusts of 80 to 110 km/h expected over high ground."
The warning is valid until 8pm today.
