YELLOW ALERT: Possibility of thunderstorms and lightning strikes for Kilkenny

A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, and Waterford. The warning is valid from this morning until midday. 

There's a possibility of scattered thunderstorms in the vicinity with lightning strikes.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy at first today with outbreaks of rain, but drier and brighter conditions will push down over the north through the morning and afternoon. However, southern parts will have a wet day with some heavy or thundery rain at times, the rain becoming lighter and more patchy in the afternoon and evening.

Highest afternoon temperatures of just 11 to 15 degrees in mostly light to moderate northerly breezes.

Wednesday night will be mostly dry and chilly with long clear spells.

Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees generally, dropping a little lower locally in parts of the midlands with a touch of grass frost. Light variable breezes will allow some pockets of mist and fog to develop.

Thursday 12th October will be a dry day with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in light southerly or variable breezes. Southern parts will become dull later with some rain likely in the evening.
