Joe Kennedy, an amateur meteorologist based in Moonarch, has provided the annual rainfall figures for the Callan area, revealing a wetter-than-average year in 2023.
According to Kennedy's data, the total rainfall for the region in 2023 amounted to 1088.9mm, surpassing the average figures. The wettest day of the year was recorded on September 15, with 43.4mm of rainfall.
Furthermore, October emerged as the wettest month, witnessing a substantial 165.5mm of precipitation.
In contrast, February stood out as the driest month of 2023, experiencing only 20.7mm of rainfall. This weather pattern marked a considerably dry month for that time of the year.
Comparing the figures to the previous years, the data indicated a significant difference. In 2022, the total rainfall was 1056.6mm, with October standing out as a dreadfully wet month, recording 247.0mm of rainfall.
The year 2021, on the other hand, was characterized by dry weather, with a total of 885.8mm of rainfall.
