The orange snow-ice weather warning in place for Kilkenny until 5pm today has been extended until 8pm.
Kilkenny Civil Defence have issued a statement advising local people to 'please only travel if absolutely necessary'.
Further falls of sleet and snow leading to significant accumulations can be expected in Kilkenny.

Impacts include very difficult travelling conditions, poor visibility, travel disruption delays to public transport, difficult conditions underfoot and animal welfare issues.
