Black ice is forming on roads across Kilkenny as sub-zero temperatures continue to wreak havoc.

Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather has highlighted that Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) data 'shows surface temperatures are lower than air temps'.

He received a report from a Julianne Reid, living in North Kilkenny, who supplied the above picture.

"Estate in Moneenroe, Castlecomer, still lots of snow but road is just pure black ice, extremely dangerous,” Juliana stated.

Motorists across Kilkenny who have to travel tomorrow can expect very hazardous conditions on local roads, particularly on roads that are not gritted.
