Power outages in the Johnswell Road and Grannagh areas of Kilkenny are currently affecting more than 1,000 customers, according to ESB Powercheck.
The estimated restore time is currently unknown and more outages are expected as the storm develops and hits Ireland.
The ESB warns people that fallen electricity wires are live and dangerous. Never approach or touch them. Call the ESB's emergency service immediately on 1800 372 999 or (+353 21 2382410)

Met Eireann has issued a series of Red Weather warnings. The Status Red Weather Warnings are as follows.
A Status Red Wind warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clare and Waterford from 2am on Friday until 10am on Friday.
A Status Red Wind Warning for Clare and Galway from 3am on Friday until 11am on Friday
A Status Red Wind warning for Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo from 4am on Friday until 12 noon on Friday.
A Status Red Wind warning for Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Roscommon and Tipperary from 6am on Friday until 11am on Friday.
A Status Red Wind Warning for Donegal from 7am on Friday until 2pm on Friday.
