A Status Yellow wind and rain warning issued by Met Eireann remains in place for County Kilkenny as Storm Chandra hits much of the country.

Winds associated with Storm Chandra are expected to be “very strong and gusty”, particularly along exposed and coastal areas.

Possible impacts include fallen trees and loose debris, wave overtopping and hazardous travel conditions, with forecasters urging people to take care especially when travelling.
Kilkenny County Council are advising drivers to expect surface water, debris and poor visibility and allow for disruption when commuting over the coming days.
The local authority is also advising people check in with neighbours, older people or anyone who may need assistance in case conditions worsen.
Graignamanagh appears to have been the worst impacted part of the county with the River Barrow bursting its banks causing difficulty for pedestrians, road users and local business.
Emergency crews were deployed to Main Street yesterday (Monday) to clear the street with the crew still working to assist parts of the town hardest hit by the flooding.
