County Kilkenny road impassable as Storm Chandra flooding causes more challenges

Kilkenny County Council have confirmed a number of local roads have closed due to Storm Chandra as the county grapples with challenging conditions.

Both the L1825 Ardaloo Road is closed between Threecastles and Jenkinstown and Annamult in Bennettsbridge have been closed since earlier this evening (Tuesday).

Meanwhile, the Quay in Thomastown is currently flooded and the public are asked to avoid the area.

These latest closures follow a day full of similar incidents, putting many Kilkenny communities under pressure.

A Status Yellow wind and rain warning issued by Met Eireann remains in place for County Kilkenny as Storm Chandra hits much of the country.

The warning will remain in place until 11pm this evening (Tuesday).
