LATEST: Widespread flooding with numerous Kilkenny roads impassable

A flooded Thomastown on Friday morning

Further road closures have been announced by Kilkenny County Council as flooding continues to cause disruption across the county.

A Status Yellow rain warning issued by Met Eireann is in place until midnight (Friday) with further rain anticipated meaning further flooding remaining a real concern.

The Quay in Thomastown is flooded and closed to traffic while Station Road/Marshes Street is impassable.

Meanwhile, Moneenroe Cross, R448 to Knocktopher,  the L1825 Ardaloo Road and the R700 Inistioge Village are all closed due to flooding.

Drivers are asked to avoid the areas.
