‘Thundersnow’ could hit Kilkenny and other areas in Ireland later this week as a fresh band of wintry weather tracks across the country.
Met Eireann has issued a stormy and wintry forecast for the coming days, saying sleet, hail, ice, freezing temperatures, frost, gusty winds, heavy rain, snow and thunder are all possible.
'Thundersnow’ happens when thunderstorms, usually more common in summer months, form in wintry conditions.
Thursday (tomorrow) is the most likely day that such an event can occur, based on the data from the national forecasting agency.
