Thunderstorms possible as weather warning issued for Kilkenny

A status yellow warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow
Five counties including Kilkenny could see thunderstorms as Met Éireann have issued a weather warning for the South-East.
Localised flooding and hazardous road conditions are expected in Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow on Thursday afternoon.
The status yellow rain warning will be downgraded at 3am on Friday.
Met Éireann said there would be “spells of heavy rain with a possibility of thunderstorms” during that period.
They also expect “Thursday will start off dry in many parts with rain developing to the south and spreading north through Thursday, heavy at times with the chance of thunderstorms and the potential for surface water flooding in places.
“Drier and warmer across west and north-west counties with some sunny periods but the odd thundery shower also possible.
“Maximum temperatures of 18 to 24C.”
They have also issued a statement saying that “scattered outbreaks of rain will affect the country, locally heavy with thunderstorms.
“However, it will become drier over western half of the country with the odd thunderstorm possible.
“Patches of mist or fog may develop in light variable, mainly westerly breezes. Minimum temperatures of 13 to 16C.”
Further scattered showers, some heavy and with thunderstorms, look likely to persist through the weekend, with the possibility that “the early days of next week will also prove unsettled with rain or showers at times.”
