Bowie Day, Ryan’s Bar’s annual Starman extravaganza returns to Friary Street this Saturday (January 20) with all proceeds going to local charity, Kilkenny Helping the Homeless.
The action kicks off at 8.30pm with live music in the front bar from Pete Holidai and Tony St Ledger (Trouble Pilgrims) and The Oddities with special guests; Tony Cleere, Aoife Meagher, Jan Murphy, Sylvia Knox and Canice Kenealy.
There will be also be a raffle on the night all proceeds going to Kilkenny Helping the Homeless, who support local families and those in need with food bags, clothes and furniture. Most of these are donated by the public and sold for a small donation on the “Supporting Those in Need” Facebook page. This donation is then used to buy food/items to assist those struggling at the moment. Every second week Brendan and Mary Pierce and the team head to Dublin to feed over 200 people and provide sleeping bags, warm clothes and tents to those who need them most. Kilkenny Helping the Homeless are currently fundraising to upgrade their van to allow them to continue to assist those in need.
