The legendary Amy Winehouse
A special screening will take place of Back to Black at the Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny on May 29.
Chronicling the tumultuous life of the iconic singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, Back to Black follows her journey from vibrant young Camden musician to Grammy Award-winning sensation. Exploring her complicated personal struggles with addiction and relationships, featuring an evocative soundtrack of Winehouse's timeless classics, this is a poignant exploration of her creativity, honesty, and extraordinary musical genius and the pitfalls of celebrity.
On a journey to stardom that thrust her from the craziness and colour of '90s Camden High Street to global adoration – and back again – Amy's complicated personal relationship with Blake Fielder Civil, along with her dependence on alcohol and drugs and other destructive behaviours lead to a paparazzi frenzy all of which contributed to her tragic demise.
Back to Black is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and the cast includes Marisa Abela, Eddie Marsan, Jack O'Connell and Lesley Manville. Back to Black will be screened at the Watergate Theatre on May 29 and tickets are €7.
