German artist showcases unique solo exhibition at VISUAL - Kilkenny Live

VISUAL is pleased to presentUnder Water Ball, a solo exhibition by Ulla von Brandenburg in its Main Gallery, and is the largest exhibition of the German artist's work in the country to date.
Over the last 20 years, von Brandenburg has developed an acclaimed practice blending painting, textiles, film and performance.Under Water Ball marks the first time she has exhibited in Ireland in 15 years
The exhibition consists of a site-specific, immersive installation of large-scale textile and sculptural works, and includes the European premiere of von Brandenburg’s latest film, co-commissioned by VISUAL. (Un bal sous l’eau, 2023).
Puppet making, performance and storytelling will form part of the learning programme running alongside the exhibition. VISUAL has also developed a summer programme of workshops, summer camps and school tours. There will also be a sustainability summer school for adults this August 16-18.
A shadow puppet theatre has been handcrafted by the VISUAL team and is located upstairs in the gallery. The space is free for people to perform their own shadow puppet show with space for an audience.

he exhibition at VISUAL in Carlow is free and runs until August 25. Admission times are from 11am-5.30pm Tuesday-Saturday and 2pm-5pm Sunday.
