Where Eagle Scouts Dare: Young Kilkenny actor’s star turn to be showcased at film festival

Nominated for an Irish Film and Cinema award and to showcase at this year’s Roscommon International Film Festival

A young man from Callan will have front row seats to see the movie he starred in when it is  showcased at the Roscommon International Film Festival this weekend.

Stephen Stuart, from Callan has been acting for the past few years. He’s been an after-school member with Young Irish Filmmakers in Kilkenny. His father, Stephen Senior, is from Callan and his mother Angela is originally from Bagenalstown. 

Stephen landed the lead role as Danny in ‘Where Eagle Scouts Dare' a year ago with an IADT production. The film is produced by Thomas Wallace and Patryk Lukaszewski.

The work was nominated for an Irish Film and Cinema award. Those awards will take place in The Royal Marina Hotel Dublin in November. 

However, before that, this weekend on October 5, the movie has been nominated to showcase at this year’s Roscommon International Film Festival. Stephen says to have it shown to an audience is a great feeling. 

“I can’t wait to attend the awards with my parents and brother and see the movie cast again,” he said.

“I love acting and the team and directors and producers and full cast were the greatest people. I learned so much from Tom and Patryk.”

Stephen told the Kilkenny People he’s delighted to see the movie he loves get the recognition. 

“I loved working with the cast and Tom and Patryk really guided me. They're the most incredible producer's and I learned so much from them. 

The-13-year-old signed to Carlow based agency SRL over a year ago, and has since taped for a number of exciting projects. He is also busy casting for some very exciting projects.

Stephen isn’t just into acting; he’s a singer and he’s also a Kilkenny county boxing champion, loves martial arts, and enjoys hurling too. He recently started in Coláiste Abhainn Rí in Callan, and so far is enjoying his secondary school experience.
