Taekwondo participants display their skills at last year’s parade
The deadline to join this year's Kilkenny St Patrick’s Day parade is Monday, February 17.
Organisers are calling on communities, businesses, local charities, clubs and social groups to be a part of the grand parade and pinnacle of the city’s St Patrick’s Festival from March 14 - 17.
“At the heart of every St Patrick’s Festival is the grand parade, and the heart of the parade is the local community,” said commented Marian Flannery, Festival Director with St Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny 2025.
“The clubs, charities and groups that showcase the real spirit of Kilkenny.
“We’re putting together a spectacular line-up of performers on March 17, from stilt walkers, Latvian dancers, hula hoopers, jugglers, an alien invasion, cat pageantry, Buí Bolg Giant Snake, several brass bands and lots more, but the local community is what makes a true Kilkenny parade. So, Bí Beo, Bí Linn, and be part of the celebration this St. Patrick’s Day.”
This year's theme is Bí Beo, Bí Linn – be alive, be with us. Taking place on Monday, March 17, from 1.30pm and putting Kilkenny people centre stage, the parade will weave through the medieval streets celebrating Irish culture, music and the diverse local community.
“This year’s theme is a celebration of all aspects of Kilkenny society, its heritage and the evolving community, bringing together a full spectrum of local stories and people. Interpreting the theme, think about a lively expression of your group's culture and values and bring that to life on the streets of Kilkenny — waving flags, bunting, dressing up in club colours and showing Kilkenny your creative side.”
