Lot 349 - COLLECTION OF SIX FRAMED HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF KILKENNY

A valuable and visually compelling collection of six early 20th Century black-and-white and tinted photographs, each framed and annotated, documenting notable landmarks and streetscapes in Kilkenny.

Subjects include the ornate interior of the former theatre on Patrick Street; Kieran Street with early commercial signage; the now-lost medieval structure of St. Patrick's Gate (demolished 1903); Home of the De Montmorency family, designed by Francis Bindon and demolished in 1930; a hand-tinted 1905 street scene titled 'Hay For Sale' on The Parade; and a bustling view of High Street, Kilkenny.

These photographs capture the architectural heritage and daily life of the city at a time of significant transition and are of strong documentary and historical interest.
