Sorting the fleece at last summer’s sheep sheering event at Cushendale Woolen Mill
The Shearing Festival is back in Graignamanagh!
Join in the fun at Cushendale Woolen Mills on Saturday, June 7, for a day of sheep, craft and fun!
Echoing the tradition of the past, the mill's own Galway Sheep will he herded into the yard to have their heavy, winter coats removed.
Galway Sheep are Ireland’s only indigenous breed, favoured for their wool. The thick, high quality wool is perfect for processing into yarns and textiles and is the wool of choice at Cushendale.

The wool from the event will be cleaned, dyed and woven into blankets in Graignamanagh.
As well as the shearing of Galway Sheep, on the day there will be something for everyone to enjoy - Live music; a block printing workshop with by Michelle Mahon; a Kid's Treasure Hunt; and there will be local artists capturing the day's action, Jamie Dunne and friends.
The Cushendale Mill shop will be open, with 15% off. Free entry to the festival events, everyone is welcome! Come for the sheep and stay for the craic!
