Water testing will resume in swimming locations of County Kilkenny in the coming days

Hugely popular Kilkenny event cancelled with a 'heavy heart'

It has now been officially confirmed Sunday's annual Regatta in Graignamanagh has now been cancelled due to a water quality advisory from Kilkenny County Council.

A social media post from the organisers said it was with a 'heavy heart' they had to cancel the event.

"We really had high hopes that by today the new testing results would have shown an improvement but unfortunately this was not the case," they continued.

"We regrettably cannot go ahead with our event at this time."

Bathing advisory notices have been lifted in Inistioge and Thomastown but an advisory warning remains in place in Graignamanagh until further notice.

Kilkenny County Council will continue testing water quality at each location, to ensure safe bathing across the county.
