A celebration of wild swimming, ecology, film and rivers, the Nuenna River Festival comes to Freshford this weekend with two days of celebration, reflection and connection.
On Friday at 7pm in Ionad Lachtain, the festival opens with the screening of River/Tumadh, a powerful film exploring the year-long journey of wild swimmers and their deep relationship with the Nuenna River.
The film highlights rivers as living presences and invites us to reflect on their importance for human wellbeing, memory, imagination and connection.
On Saturday from 10am in Millennium Park, the festival continues with a wellbeing day. The programme includes wild swimming, yoga, forest school, sauna and immersive experiences exploring art, ecology and poetry.

The day will also see the launch of Nore Vision’s new citizen science training, supported by Kilkenny LEADER Partnership.
Visitors can take part in hands-on kick sampling with the Citizen Science Team, learning how to monitor water health and biodiversity.
The festival also invites swimmers and communities to join a new Water Council to explore our relationship with rivers and advocate for the protection of waterbodies, precious ecosystems on which all life depends.
All events are free and can be booked via the Nore Vision website at norevision.ie.
