Two candidates will put their names before the Kilkenny Fianna Fail selection convention for the next Dail election, on Friday night in the Springhill Court Hotel, Kilkenny.
They are sitting party TDs, John McGuinness and Bobby Aylward.
Delegates have been told that only two candidates will be selected.
Jennifer Murnane-O'Connor has already been selected as the Carlow candidate in the five seat Carlow-Kilkenny constituency.
