The roads policing unit in Kilkenny encountered a driver holding and using his phone while driving on the Ring Road in Kilkenny yesterday (Sunday).
When the driver was spoken to after the stop, it transpired that he was travelling on a fake UK licence.
Consequently, the driver was arrested and charged with four offences including the false licence and having no insurance.
His van was also seized.
"Fake licenses will not pass scrutiny and will actually land you in far more trouble," a garda spokesperson warned.
